MUNAST Museum
ArtBuild
A case study for an architecture studio
The Briefing
In response to an architectural competition, European architecture studio ArtBuild commissioned us to produce a 2D film expressing their vision for the future National Museum of Archeology and Earth Sciences in Rabat, Morocco.

The story we wanted to tell
The aim was not to create photorealistic visuals of the future building, but rather to express the architects’ artistic vision. The idea was to put the studio’s creative vision into images, highlighting colors, patterns and other sources of inspiration.
The photorealistic images in the second part of the film were produced by Quick IT Studio and Ouroboros Graphic Agency.

- Athéna de Callataÿ, head of motion.“I love this mix of techniques that makes it possible to achieve a result that seems simple and yet... I challenge you to animate kaleidoscopes....”

The creative process
We developed a real dialogue with the architects to understand their concept and put it into images. The starting point was earth, the central element of the project, not only as a receptacle for the building, but also for its color, which contributes to the building’s identity. We also used the various motifs of Moroccan culture to design the visuals.

Production
Although the film has a 2D look and feel, we nevertheless used 3D to create certain sequences, enabling us to achieve transitions and camera movements that would have been too complex to achieve in 2D.
We used Photoshop for textures, a series of visuals created with ProCreate and Illustrator, Blender and the Eevee rendering engine for 3D, and After Effect for animation and compositing. In short, we spared no resources!

Broadcast
The film was used to present and defend the project at the architecture competition and on ArtBuild’s various communication channels.
